Surprising many who have followed her classical career, Cândida brought to light her most Brazilian trend - with creativity, swing and beauty. Here, she writes, sings, plays, arranges and directs.
In her own songs, composed with friends in Bahia and Rio, in theaters and ghettos, unveil a new scene for what seems the refined and seductive bossa nova on the first track, but soon you change your mind. On the second, a dancing polka-xote-reggae takes us to a blue dream which journeys through the ocean of Africanism of the third track, where the congo, ijexá, and embalar, rythms from Africa, rock the ancient song for the Great Water Goddess.
Smooth and communicative compositions, which seems that we were born listening to, while they have arrangements that take us by surprise all the time, with pianos, clavinet, hammond, pifes (a kind of Brazilian flute), bassoon, tires and lots of percussion. A wealth of tones, electronic polyphonies and an impeccable sonority. Wonder! Recorded and mixed in blessed studios, like Carlinhos Brown’s and Guilherme Arantes’, two great Brazilian musicians. And this sweet, warm and present voice, as well as her hands over the keys, could only be from someone who has a name that reminds us of “candies”.
All passed through the cauldron of Alê Siqueira, this wizard producer who has already enchanted us so many times with the voices of artists like Marisa Monte, Tribalistas, Omara Portuondo (Cuba). This work intends to reach an international audience of listeners interested on ethnic sonorities dressed by the latest and universal electronic language.
This work reveals a new style in Brazilian music, new talents and another Brazil, old and young, full of powdered clay and stardust ... which seduces, dreams, and praises … from an aquarian girl who reminds us to take care of the seas, in order to spread her voice and the promise of this music.
